I forgot I had this journal, to be honest. Though I suppose even if I had remembered, I wouldn't've posted all that much, anyway. Lol.

In any case, I figure I'll post some actual school things to tide over the boredom. Apologies ahead of time if it's difficult to read or if there are formatting problems; it won't copy/paste formatting prettily enough to try, so I didn't bother working with the Rich Text input, as that just confused me even more. =_= Thus! Any mistakes are mine while transferring, considering I went through and did them manually.

I would have a biographical essay on Ashin (Mayday) in Japanese, too, but I only have a rough draft that had been revamped quite a bit in a final draft, so you can all just go Wiki him and read his bio in English. |D

Without further ado...

After a full-night's (and nearly a full day's, too, it appears) sleep, this whole essay writing business is going ... quite well. My "Why Swarthmore?" essay came out ... structured. ... goodness gracious I hope I get into Amherst with that hellish response of an essay. Dx

I also learned that wtf I'm already late for Cornell's financial aid deadline. D: ... :< I guess that's all right. As long as I get into Amherst (or NYU or Columbia) WOES

AGH. I forgot to put down Amherst College. DDDDDD:

Erk. Well, have to go see Pina on Monday, anyway, to give her the correct USC paper, so I will ... beg to see if she can switch CMU out and put in Amherst College, instead, as I really have very little to no will to go to CMU, and I like nice, even numbers. |D Hopefully she will say yes. ;_;

... Hey. Those tears look vaguely like Axel's markings. |D [shot]

Have turned in paperwork and the like to Mrs. Piña for counselor reccage, and, thus, these appear to be the only colleges I will be applying to for the fall semester:

  • Barnard College (New York, NY)
  • Boston University (Boston, MA)
  • Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA)
  • Columbia University: Columbia College (New York, NY)
  • Cornell University (Ithaca, NY)
  • New York University (New York, NY)
  • Swarthmore College (Swarthmore, PA)
  • University of Massachusetts Amherst (Amherst, MA)
  • University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA)
  • Wellesley College (Wellesley, MA)

CMU, Cornell, and Swarthmore are iffies and, thus, near the bottom of my list -- especially CMU, as Cornell has gorgeous scenery going for it (and NY!), and Swarthmore's awesome-looking curriculum kept it on my to-apply list... As of this moment, I suppose you can say NYU and Amherst are tied for lead, and Columbia is a close runner-up; next would come Wellesley and Barnard, Boston, Cornell, Swarthmore, USC, and then CMU.

Just looking at that list, it doesn't really look like I have any safety schools ... except for maybe USC, my lone West Coaster? ... Does that even count as a safety school? >_>; Otherwise, this still looks to me like a now-or-never type of decision. We'll see how things go.

Still not sure about majors. I don't think I'll be majoring in Japanese, unless it's a double major or as a minor, especially because Mother said not to do a language major ("It gets you nowhere. I mean, look at your brother," she'd said. It sounds sadder in text than in words.). Graphic arts looks glum, photography holds little interest in me now, and I've found myself to be quite the selfish misanthrope as of late, so I don't know how wise it would be to apply as an anthropology/sociology/psychology major.

Well, I won't worry about it too much right now; although I'll be finishing my apps this weekend, hopefully, I don't need to submit any of it yet.
